Hey,

I'm going to be putting in an order for Alertec Modafinil soon, hoping it will help with my severe exhaustion and brain fog I have everyday.

If this helps, does it lose effectivness using everyday? Would it be best using two to three times a week to keep it effective?

Like all other stims, modafinil has a tolerance profile. Definitely keeping it's use down to 2-3 times a week will slow down that process; also starting with a 50mg dose. I'm not entirely sure how reliable that brand is, though. I would also strongly advise against using caffeine when on it, you will get very agitated (at least I did).

Yes, you will definitely build a tolerance, except the tolerance profile seems to be quite favourable for modaf.

I'm very surprised that I haven't heard many people talk about the negative side effects of modafinil. I stopped taking it because it started to mess with my digestive system, specifically, loud stomach sounds and constipation among some other problems. I'm thinking about going back to the doctor for adderall, a much better drug in my opinion.

Oh another stupid press feature on Modafinil or some other 'smart drug'.

Another watered down hyped up peice of swill for the masses to consume.

Great.

The effectiveness of modafinil definitely tapered off for me over a month and a half of daily use. I only ever used 200mg in the morning. It still keeps you awake if you are missing out on sleep, but the high focus and mood boosting properties will be almost completely gone. Pretty comparable to caffeine in terms of tolerance. At first caffeine gives you a boost, but after continued use you just feel barely above baseline. Despite all of that, even after tolerance developed the modafinil still kept me up at night if I took it too late, and still caused a loss of appetite. My doctor gave me the okay to increase the dose to 400mg/day but I don't even like using it anymore. I don't feel like myself on it.

It's been said quite a bit on here, but I'll just repeat that it seems modafinil is best used on an as needed basis. If you happen to need it daily I would start looking for an alternative.

I have the "brain fog" also when I don't use stimulants. I probably have undiagnosed ADD, but I don't even want to go down the amphetamine path. Buproprion seems to be helping somewhat.

Is this an actual "tolerance"

Or is it because over time Modafinil causes long term induced CYP3A4, which lasts up to a month after stopping modafinil.
If this is the case then thats probably what people are feeling because Modafinil does not last long anymore before being metabolised.
