Dr. Stolzing has agreed to an interview for the Longecity Now podcast.

A specific date for the interview has not been set but it is looking promising that it will be this month.

As you might recall, Dr. Stolzing is leading one of Longecity's research projects: http://www.imminst.org/Research2010B

I apologize for this late update. The podcast interview with Dr. Stolzing is scheduled for today (Jan 18th) at 2400 GMT. If you have any questions about the current Microglia stem cell research, or other general stem cell questions for Dr. Stolzing, please post them here in the forum.

I would like to ask several questions:
First is at what stage are the research attempts to be created neurons from stem cells?
Can adult stem cells can transform into neurons, and which exactly adult stem cells can be transformed to neurons?
How exactly adult stem cells are transformed to neurons?

Thanks in regards for the answers.

Unless the data from the project is complete, I will not ask about preliminary results, because that is a poor thing to do in science, as it is just speculation. I will ask about the functional aspects of the project and if there were any unforeseen stumbling blocks. Did we learn anything new about researching with "Alzheimer's mice" and transplanting microglia cells, things that might be in future protocols.

Some other possible questions will revolve around what Dr. Stolzing sees as the most promising research avenue for stem cells in the near future, similar to what seivtcho has inquired about.

For nostalgia's sake, here is an old text chat with Mondey (Dr. Stolzing). It will be interesting to hear how things have progressed since then.

the podcast is recorded. I will edit it, and it should be available this weekend (as well as the Kevin Perrott interview).

As far as the question about neurons, she said that there are many many many projects currently ongoing with regards to using stem cells to create neuron and then transplanting them - many humans and animal trials currently ongoing. More details in the podcast to come.

The podcast is edited and polished. It should be available shortly. In it you will find a lot of good information about the progress of stem cell research, including microglia research and in regards to Alzheimer's in general.

Toward the end you will also find some good original advice on how we can continue to move research forward with more research labs around the world.

I had been waiting for the MP3 to be hosted on the Imminst server and linked into this forum, but I am unsure when it will be uploaded, so if you want to download and listen to it, here is the link to the sendspace file: http://www.sendspace.com/file/28mzo0

Great job! Great content, showing how fast longevity science is moving forward.

I missed that "LongeCity Now" interview once again, without knowing it in advance -- however I visit longecity.org almost everyday...
- Could you add AgeVIvo (skype name) to all interviews?
- Could we put the next interview in bold on the frontpage/sidebar/right of "LongeCity" logo (at the top)?
