I am looking for an 5HT1B antagonist (or preferally an inverse agonist) to block the 5HT1B receptor activity,

since its supposed to be important in OCD-behavior and an antagonist of that receptor have in rodents shown promising results.

But so far the only 5HT1B antagonist i found that is fairly easy to acquire is herbal extracts of 'jujube', but that herb have some GABA-activity as well, and for some reason i dont respond very well to GABA.

The only other sorts of inhibitors or inverse agonists of 5HT1B is research chemicals like SB 22428, which seems great being an inverse agonist and very specific to that receptor,

but custom synthesis seems to cost a bucketload of money, and thats just for something that i then hope could to the job.

So my question(s) is; Is there ANY drug, herbal, pharmaceutical (excluding SSRIs) or other, that have 5HT1B antagonist or inverse agonist properties?

If not or/and also; Custom synthesis, is there any company in play that is trustworty but dont charge a kings ransom ?

These results indicate that orbitofrontal 5-HT1BRs are necessary and sufficient to induce OCD-like behavior in mice and that SRI pharmacotherapy reduces OCD-like behavior by desensitizing orbitofrontal 5-HT1BRs

Actually I found out that Ziziphus spinosa does block 5-ht1b. Instead of Ziziphus jujuba

or here

Interactions of Magnolia and Ziziphus extracts with selected central nervous system receptors.

Apart from this, I could not find anything other up till now

Thank goodness for you saying that, since i bought both (swanson) 'Jujube extract' and 'wild jujube extract',

the jujube fruit is 'ziziphus jujuba' and wild jujube is 'Ziziphus spinosa'.

Yohimbine is a 5-HT1B/1D antagonist but it is a stimulant as well, it helped my OCD...might or might not do the same for you. Plus the crash is horrible in comparison to Caffeine.

Thanks for this information, I will add it to my natural serotonin antagonists article.

Shilajit is found to protect against serotonin induced cognitive deficits by rapidly depleting serotonin activity; especially in the Hippocampus. This is also a proposed mechanism by which Shilajit rejuvenates normal libido / sexual function.

Ginseng has effects in the hypothalamus, reducing serotonin activity there.

Vitex decreases serotonin rapidly, and Yohimbe acts as a competitive antagonist at multiple receptors.

OP, with your valuable input, I was able to create a new article that should be top ranking on google and easy to find within the next few days. Simply searching "natural serotonin antagonist" or "natural serotonin receptor blocker" will prompt this article in results. --> http://area1255.blog...r-blockers.html

This would help people both find this thread and the article, I have linked to this thread in the article as well.

So longecity should be getting extra hits the inverted way as well.

Nice finds.

I have known ginseng allways as a 5-ht2a agonist but this with the hypothalamus is new for me.

Identification of antidepressant-like ingredients in ginseng root (Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer) using a menopausal depressive-like state in female mice: participation of 5-HT2A receptors.

Agonizing 5-HT2A ends up downregulating it, its the most sensitive receptor and will downregulate in response to excessive agonism or antagonism.
