Is taking NR sublingually desireable and is there a "best" brand for sublingual?

I want to try taking nicotinamide riboside sublingually, but I've read that there are some concerns about the different excipients used by different brand labels (even if all use Niagen as the active ingredient). Is one label known to be "best" for sublingual use?

Also, does anyone have information on how dosing compares between swallowed capsules and sublingual use? For example, if I take 500mg as swallowed capsules, would that be equivalent to something more like 250mg taken sublingually?

Is there even any scientific research on NR in humans that employs sublingual consumption?

Good question. I take an NR capsule sublingually twice a day. I'm estimating it's about the same as taking double the amount orally, but I don't really know. I'm just basing that off of effects of other drugs/doses that have a CNS effect, like Vicodin.

I do not know if pouring NR into ones mouth results in higher absorption. Some have said that there is a limit to how much can be absorbed sublingually. That might be true, but the NR could be absorbing under the tongue, in the cheek gum area, in the throat and then in the rest of the digestive tract. I doubt that there is a downside, but I rarely do it any more. If I were to choose the order of Niagen brands to take "sublingually" it would be

1. HPN as it only has microcrystaline cellulose which tastes pretty neutral

2. LCR as it has rice bran which is not bad

3. Alivebynature as it has rice flour, and I do not like the taste.

The excipients used by some vendors contains powdered silica which is a carcinogen if accidentally inhaled. For this reason some of us don't recommend pouring the contents under ones tongue. There was some discussion about the absorption and its never been confirmed by any study.
