There are two types of pictures about yourself at LongeCity: the avatar and the profile picture. When one is displayed and not the other is not always clear (frankly its completely unclear).
To simplify things, the profile picture will no longer be used in the coming forum redesign, so make sure that picture is saved elsewhere if you still want it displayed!
As to the 'avatar', we would really encourage everyone to post a picture of yourself. Communication on the internet is not always easy. Sometimes we seem to forget that we are talking with other people and type things we would never say 'to someone's face'. Having pictures up wont put a stop to this behaviour all the time, but lends credibility and reality to forum environment.
