I just had to do it. I called this place I went before but the guy who did my hair before was gone. So I got a new person. Like they usually do, she insulted my curly hair. She said, "You're going to flat iron it?" Um, no. She also said, "So, you're cutting most of this off?" Um, no. For some reason it took seven requests to get some bangs. What is wrong with hairdressers? Because I knew what I wanted, it made her nervous, somehow. I said, try it, it might look good. As usual, it took several requests to get my hair washed after the haircut so I won't have hair trimmings falling on my face all day. They just don't want to do it, even though I forgo drying and styling in favor of that. Then they try to get away with doing a half-assed job of it. Things that had been decided were brought up to be discussed again. Why do they always insult my hair? Most people like my hair. She kept wanting me to be happy because it was Christmas. Same comments and questions repeatedly. When she saw it wasn't making me happy, she could have dropped it but she didn't. How smart are hairdressers?
These are some reasons it has been a year and a half since I had my hair dyed and three years since I had it cut. In spite of all this, it turned out pretty well and even she admitted it. My hair is all the same color now, light brown, and it has a long, layered cut. I no longer look ridiculous. People aren't giving me so much crap. When I was in line at the supermarket, a handsome man caught my eye and smiled. I wasn't expecting that so I didn't respond. Still, it's a good sign. No longer invisible/an eyesore.
