Stuff like that comes back on you.
A person's blog is their space to be themselves. If you have something nice to say, do it. If not, especially if it is a personal blog, remaining silent is normally your best option. It's tacky to insult someone's blog content, no matter what the "reputation system" invites you to do.
I have a post here that most people found compelling:
http://www.longecity.../#commentsStart
It is a sensitive personal post about lost love with a guy who looked like a movie star. I am a published writer. It was a polished piece that drew positive comments and four times as many views as normal. Nevertheless, one person took the time to let me know he disliked it, using the new reputation system with the pretty buttons. There's really no reason to dislike that post. I can only guess that that person doesn't like me, doesn't like posts unrelated to life extension, was upset about something else I wrote, was jealous of the man I wrote about, or was jealous of anyone who had had any kind of a love life, cause he had none. That wasn't legitimate.
After that a site user who posted elsewhere that he has no libido (impotence?) took the time to put that post down and tell me it was "almost pointless." [I guess a lot of things would be.] I removed that comment. Although it was posted through the pre-existing comment system, the language was taken from the new feedback system (and really insulting too). The reason that person even looked at my blog had to do with my posts about the reputation system.
Illegitimate negative feedback will poison the atmosphere and cut down on the content on this site. The new "feedback" system should be scrapped entirely. Don't believe those pretty buttons. It's not a good idea. Particularly, the feedback system should be removed from our blogs.
