Rain?

A heavy rain started pouring from the sky. I noticed that it covered an area less than a block wide. It moved rapidly. One house was being rained on and the next one wasn't. The rain ended up down the street. One side of the street had rain; the other didn't. One car had rain; the one next to it didn't. The clouds weren't moving. There was no wind. Clouds covered the whole sky evenly.

I've lived in this city my whole life. I only saw something like this one other time, about five years ago. There was a strange lightning storm. It rained more heavily than I have ever seen. People were being escorted out of the health food store by employees with umbrellas. I asked to go out the kitchen door into the garage so I could avoid being inundated. From a balcony I saw the lightning clouds with take an L-shaped path across the city, against the wind. They moved more rapidly than I had ever seen clouds move.
