Went food shopping at a supermarket. I got there about 5:00 p.m. The parking lot was parked up. Day people had bought all the good papayas hours after they came in. Either because it sold out or because they didn't make any, the sushi concession had no smoked salmon sushi. The sushi chef claims it's messier to make, somehow. Sad. I got some not good California rolls. I bought a bunch of food out of the store's deli. The supermarket deli food looks good, and it's easy, but I should know better. Whenever I do that, the farmed salmon, the chemicals in the sauces, and the unwashed rice make me churlish. Well, I just did it again cause I'm sick of running all over creation to get the good stuff. The deli manager was waiting on me. She was not polite. When I asked when something was made she became edgy. "The cooks have gone home." she stated, flatly. I made a point of looking at her name tag and asked if she was somehow "mad at me." [translation, you're being a bitch] At that point she started smiling and handing me samples. My point was made; but the damage was done. Stuff like this is why the gourmet health food store next door has lots of customers.
Got some veggies and other stuff. The fruit was sad. Lots of gourmet mustards were sale for a dollar and change. I should have bought them. Didn't. I saw some big eyed Scad on ice in the fish department, as well as snapper and oysters. I haven't seen Scad in the stores for years. I would have bought it if I hadn't already bought the other stuff. No way to know it would be there. I don't even know if it was gutted and cleaned. It sometimes isn't, as if we wanted to do that in our apartments. When you sell pre-washed salad, why do you think ungutted fish is o.k? The last fresh fish I bought from this store seemed to have been injected with water. The "organic" chicken they sell says there is no added water. It's injected with water.
I came to where I am now and ate my supermarket food at a picnic table, coleslaw, potato salad, and so so california rolls. It didn't really taste that good. I washed it down with Blood Orange cooler.
I was looking into where to eat for a special occasion. There is a famous restaurant here and they do that thing where there are no prices on the menus, at least online. Scary! I thought they stopped doing stuff like that, cause of, um, reality? I thought I liked the guy who started the restaurant . . . . . They don't even seem to have a wine list online. The info about the drinks is pretty spotty. You can't even necessarily tell what kind of wine or liqueur it is. Hmmmm.
