It's not the heat, it's the stupidity
----
I just learned they closed the main tourist beach here temporarily. Supposedly "torrential rains" are at fault. I haven't seen the rain to be that torrential. Maybe it's blocked drainage channels and other governmental deficiencies. The water department admitted that they caused some of the issues because of equipment they knew wasn't working and bad decisions around that. Yeah . . .
The other night I went into a business and saw sandbags near the door. Sandbags apparently are clear plastic now. Inside there were some drying machines going. The business is a little below ground level. I guess something happened? I've never seen stuff like that there. In random places in this large, developed city, I see small rivers in the gutters. There was something going on with with traffic earlier. I took an alternate route, as did many others. The sky is overcast. You can feel more moisture in the air.
Earlier I made spicy prawns with whatever was around. It was delicious. Perhaps less successfully I cooked basil and baby greens in chicken stock. It's healthy anyway. Was hunting for a good Chinese restaurant online.
