At three in the morning on Monday, lightning struck my building. The roof rumbled and shook. Stacks of pots and pans in my apartment shook by themselves. Nothing they touched was shaking.
There have been weird lightning storms for days, louder than ever before in my life. The strikes near my home have been louder than a pipe bomb. The night before lightning struck my building it struck the parking lot next door. There's been some rockslides. There's flooding in a lot of places. Sometimes traffic is backed up for miles because of that. The rain isn't the worst I've seen, but they allowed drainage routes to clog up. In some neighborhoods water is coming back out of the storm drains. In some places manhole covers have popped open.
It's colder than it used to be. Cocktail waitresses are wearing hoodies. People aren't equipped for it and the stores don't sell the right stuff. We just kind of go into semi-hibernation and walk around saying, "I'm cold."
I'm seeing stuff I've never seen before except in Ghostbusters.
