The Islamic Republic of Iran will convene an International Congress of Bioethics with the cooperation of UNESCO from May 17 to 19, 2003 in Tehran, Iran.
The event will allow attendees to participate in a diverse and possibly the largest and most interesting exploration of bioethics to date.
Sessions will be structured to bring out their international and comparative facets and, in particular, to allow critical examination by speakers and those in attendance.
Topics will include:
Diagnosis and prevention of human genetic disease.
Classification and conservation of genetic information.
Molecular biology and intellectual property rights.
Stem cell research.
Tissue transplantation.
Genetic modification of organisms.
Transformation and genetic manipulation of the human embryo.
