My best wishes to his family and friends.
"While the Metropolitan Police Department in D.C. is now investigating Traywick’s death, the agency doesn’t have any evidence to suggest foul play at this time, police said."

UPDATE 3 MAY 2018
The coroner's report states that he had Ketamine in his system. This veterinary tranquilizer caused him to pass out in the water. Then he turned to the side to curl up as during sleeping. His mouth and nose were under water, but he did not wake up. He drowned. There was water in his lungs. The flotation tank was in proper order. The spa was not at fault in any way.

Wow! I met Aaron Traywick at the Gerontological Society (IAGG and GSA) meeting in San Francisco last summer. He was the founder and CEO of Ascendance Biomedical. Here is news coverage from "The Scientist".
https://www.the-scie...n-DC-Float-Spa/
In the past, he had injected himself with an experimental Herpes drug, but it is not clear whether he did so anytime recently.
Over the past several months, he had expressed interest in experimenting with various oral and injectable substances. He was interested in obtaining the injectable senolytic polypeptide, FOXO4-dri. He was also interested in testing injectable IL-2 for cancer. I do not know whether he had them tested by independent, third-party labs before using them. I strongly encourage our members to contract with established, domestic, independent, third-party testing labs if you are purchasing experimental research materials, especially from Chinese or unknown sources, and especially if they are to be injected.

At 28, he could have lived his life for at least a decade or more until he was in his 40s before he started trialling any experiments. Quite a sad news.

Agreed. If you are in your 20s or 30s, no need to try anything too extreme.

According to this article, someone else is now funding biohackers:
https://www.theatlan...medical/559745/
The article seems to show some clear disdain for Traywick, so be forewarned. I also have to say wow! So many people are getting in on the flamewar. A guy from AU who gave himself a funny name and implanted his transit pass (and getting arrested for it) is calling him names...
So who is the shadowy figure with research money?
Traywick may have been pushing for people to go further than they felt comfortable, but the crackdown on biohacking needs to end. There are many with PhDs, or even some with less who have a great grasp of how to do this stuff and are willing to be the world's guinea pigs.
What the diy gene therapy movement is at it's core is pressure on the system to create a better system for developing cures and to get bigger companies engaged with the idea. Getting that message across has likely failed, but there's always next time.

A spokesperson for the spa told reporters that DC police twice told her they found drug paraphernalia among Traywick's belongings.[28] DC police did not confirm the detail. Toxicology reports are expected six to ten weeks following autopsy.

Was Aaron on drugs? I thought he might be from watching some of his latest videos, but that could have been transitioning to self-doubt and 'paraphernalia' at this stage without further explanation doesn't really tell us much. These could have been his insulin needles, supplements, or anything else which wouldn't have actually had anything to do with a scheduled substance. Can't they be more specific?
