Hey guys,

many members here are discussing lifestyle, nutrition or topical products for a younger / healthier looking skin. The problem to me is that many of those claims are hard to verify and of course highly subjective.

Here is my idea for this:

Lets all make an image of  a 5x5 cm piece of skin from our face, without makeup. The picture should be in good resolution and in a bright light that shows problems

Below the image and using hidden in a spoiler tag like this, we should then add the true age and what we do to preserve a healthy / young skin.

Example:

I would also add an image in a few days.

What do you think of this plan? Everyone could then choose for himself which behaviour, nutrition or skin care product convinces him by his own age guess from the images.

(i have no relationship to any product or vendor)

It could be a good idea, but only if, as in many forums, it was possible to easily upload pictures into a post. I know there is some convoluted way to upload pics here, but it escapes me now.

Here, i can start a comparison:

This is an image of parts of my face in bright light. Watch it and choose for yourself how old /good it looks like.

30s well cared for skin white,   I see here.   My guess.    And then you want to try products or supplements,   on the exact areas and exact lighting,   over one to three months?    I like this suggestion and will try to do this.   I am the type who likes to test a product on just one side and then compare it to another product on the other side.   I don't listen to most single person accounts unless they do it with NO other products confounding the results,   in the same area,  on the same side,   etc.  and I love when people try to get as close as possible to the truth.   Even better if you have access to a scope or a device that can really examine the areas.

Wow so proud o'  myself -- I usually am way off,   it seems.   Looks so good for 39 I have to say.   Although of course I'd have to see your identical twin and siblings too!

You know what? I once had the same idea with a hyaluronic acid cream and the result was pretty ugly, because some of those creams actually change the shape of the face: Hyaluronic acid creams make it heavier and fuller (could look like a hamster if you use too much), retinol creams increase the tension.

If you use this on one side for many days, you will end up with an asymetrical shape of your face and a sloping mouth. Not something you want.

never had this happen with any experiment,   although people keep insisting it can happen.    This is because I am not injecting anything into the skin,   but laying things on top that barely penetrate.    Tretinoin .05 percent on one side,   .10 percent microgel tretinoin on the other.   Or generic vs label.   Hyaluronic creams have NEVER had a very strong effect when put on top of my skin.    Or perhaps I am blind....but I don't think so considering I have a friend (nurse who does injections for a living)   who tells me honestly what looks different.    She knows I want a neck and jaw lift,   knows my face well --  and anything different she points out.    I have no idea how people are getting such extreme differences from creams and serums.    The only difference I have noticed of any consequence is when I did a TCA peel on the left,   and a lower TCA acid peel on the right.    The skin on the right was more glowing,   and the one on the left didn't get enough improvement to be worth the longer peel recovery.    Now that it's almost summer,   I'll have to wait to even them out.   Of course,  the problem is....did I apply it the exact same way?   I always wonder about this.

I would LOVE to actually get a noticable result from anything other than retin-A or a peel.....which is why I'm now looking at deeper treatments.
