I have read so many reasons to take Arginine or Nitric Oxide supplements for boosting workouts, cardiovascular, memory, boosting circulation to the brain and improved sex life... Among others

My concerns are that I also find it’s potential implications in neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s... It seems the reasearch is still a bit unclear...

Just wondering if anyone has researched this and what your opinions are from what you have read... In my simple opinion I would think increasing blood flow in the brain would be a great positive however I realize it is all much more complex than that...

Arginine metabolism can also clog up the kidneys which produce klotho, a receptor for fibroblast growth factor. Klotho should prevent or slow PD iirc.

To raise blood flow to the brain, try aspirin, pine bark extract, grape seed extract, or bilberry extract. They should all do the trick, and increasing blood flow can increase the clearance of the Lewy Bodies or their constituent parts. It sounds like a good idea that will have broad and far reaching effects, though you'll probably want to cycle them (except low dose aspirin) as the changes they produce with continued use can become problematic. Cellular metabolism, imo, must be able to maintain enough momentum to perform it's function. If cells are getting washed out too much, they won't function properly.

Tocotrienols (best when not in combination with tocopherols) can also preserve klotho and D3 can raise it. Raising it for a while can have benefits, but be careful with D3, lots of people recommending overdoses that will leave you feeling drugged.

idk,   I have gone through phases of testing with Arginine,   then pine bark extract,   and never felt or saw any different.   I took it at various times to see if I could THEN see a difference.   None.   It's very strange.   So I quit taking them.  Right now I am only trying NR,   about to give that up too.

What brand were you using?

I'm not sure why pinebark wouldn't work, which extract are you using, how old are you? It was definitely capable of interfering with what I'd call neurometabolic momentum and that's why I don't take it or grape seed extract (same side effect) anymore regardless of the purported benefit to skin health/appearance.

I was using a 95% PBE when I noticed it's effects and stopped taking it as the results were inconsistent over time and repeat dosing lead to too much. Vitamin K2, CoQ10, and the Klotho supplements will prevent/reverse the age related decline of cerebrovascular blood flow without the PBE side effects.

PBE and GSE effects are entirely reversible.

Horse chestnut is another, worse side effects though.

NR is probably a bad idea for someone with Parkinson's as it's going to feed the energy cascade that is being used to cause cell loss in the substantia nigra.

Hey,   I was using the bulksupplements powdered version of pure pbe and arginine at another point.    I try to save money and avoid dealing with additives,   so if you know of others that are better,   please let me know.   I'm forty-one and was forty at the time,   and didn't see much difference or really ANY difference.   What klotho supplements have you tried?    I take k2 now plus d because brittle bones run in my family and I'm a thin white woman who used to do ballet.   So I'm at pretty high risk.   Considering going on the pill because I know I'll have to deal with brittle bones at some point,   and need to take action now.

I think the concern is more of the presence of antioxidants when free radicals are present. Timing of antioxidants around workouts is important. I can’t remember all of them but vitamin C and vitamin E are two I remember that should be supplemented away from workouts. There are much better forms of arginine other than L arginine.

Arginine alpha-ketoglutarate
Nitrosigine (inositol arginine silicate)

Other preferred NO boosters

L Citrulline
L Norvaline
Agmatine
Beta-Alanine
Beet root
hesperidin
Danshen
Taurine

Plant dirived stress protectors and adaptogens play a role
Eleutherococcus senticosus, Schizandra chinensis, Rhodiola rosea, Bryonia alba and Panax ginseng

Looks like a good product that's equivalent to what I tried. Perhaps the difference is in gender?

Actually, I did recognize that BulkSupplements now has a disclaimer regarding some of their products being known to cause cancer in California... Not sure what all that applies to, but this says it is food grade... I would think you would still see efficacy from it though. I'd check the bag as they would be expected to add it to individual labels if it applies to that product anyways.

Is the K2 that you're taking menatetrenone? K2 MK4 @45mg/day? That stuff is awesome. Regular K complexes with a little bit of all three vitamin Ks and D3 aren't nearly as good imo.

Taurine might be good for a variety of reasons, it raises steroid hormone production too.
