Sodium and Iron Interaction?

This is probably a stupid question...

 

Does dietary sodium encourage iron oxidation, free radical generation, or other bad interactions with iron? Like how taking Vitamin C and Iron might exacerbate oxidative stress. And, outside the body, like in your car, salt accelerates iron rusting. If one were to take iron supplements, would it be a good idea to avoid sodium intake at the same time?

 

Googling, I'm not seeing anything alarming. In fact there are studies on iron fortified salt for anemia. One brand is Tata Salt Plus that has added Iron.
