With reference to International Longevity Day (Ist October), 2017 Pakistan Aging Research Society (PARS) arranged a Longevity Day Meetup in the meeting hall of Iffat Anwar Medical Complex (IAMC), Lahore on 1st October at 10 am. Dr. Aftab Ahmad (Founder; PARS) gave an overview of aging, healthy aging, aging research in Pakistan and how lifestyle affects aging. Dr. Aftab stressed that as there is growing aging population in Pakistan and life expectancy is also on the increase, so government should prepare for it by developing infrastructure and should provide better healthcare facilities (geriatrics clinics, geriatric outdoor facilities etc.). He also asked that as government promised to build National Institute of Geriatrics (NIG) almost a decade ago, it should be built on priority basis. It was an interactive session and all the participants actively participated in the discussion about healthy aging. The participants were young scientists from University of Gujrat sub campus Sialkot and some other institutes of Sialkot. They requested that such seminars and meetups should also be arranged in Sialkot. During the session refreshment was also served and discussion continued. The meeting was sponsored by Longcity.
