For what reason do people take taurine? This seems to be useful for a lot of purposes, but I have taken magnesium taurate and I get a superb sleep. Based on what I've read, it's added to energy drinks because it keeps you from getting jittery. For someone to take it by itself, wouldn't they get tired? On some post I saw it where a guy was taking grams of taurine per day. Under a gram is plenty for me. For what reason do you use taurine?

When I used to compete in bodybuilding we would use a drug when dieting called Clenbuterol. One of the main side effects was cramping and typically 1 g of taurine 2-4x/day eliminated it.
But now I take it basically for all of the reasons here.

Only a couple pills of magnesium taurate during the day and I wake up at my desk a bit later.

I take a spoonful in protein powder twice a day. Its good stuff as John has stated in his post/link.
