Can someone please tell me what happened to me and what could cause this craziness.  It's heart palpitations and fear 24/7 and I can barely get sleep or leave the house.  Please keep in mind I am 4.5 years out from healing from SSRI withdrawal and then subsequent benzo withdrawal that i used for 2 months.  I never recovered after that benzo use.

3 months ago I was given glutathione which cause massive menstrual bleeding for a month.  I went to gyno and they gave me a low dose birth control Alesse which I would need to take 4 pills a day just to keep it to a light bleeding.  I took it for a month and went certifiably mad with anxiety and fear.  I got so scared that I stopped taking it on Aug 30th and saw an acupuncturist and they stopped the bleeding within 9 days.  Now it's Oct 9th and the anxiety is becoming unbearable. Depressed, anxious out of my mind, fear of being left alone and clinging to anyone.  It's day 29 of my cycle and my period isn't here yet the anxiety is getting worse.  I don't know if anxiety is ramping up because my hormones are suppose to be raising or my cortisol is continuously going up.

Via genetics testing I am told I have Low COMT gene.  Now my serotonin had already plummeted due to ssri withdrawal and most likely gaba too.  Birth control further lowers serotonin??  I tried to supplement with 15mg 5htp just to see how I would feel.  I felt the brain fog lift slightly and the depression but the anxiety hummed in the background.  I took that at 2 pm and by bedtime I could feel the OCD/anxiety return a bit.  That little dose kept me up all night and I wasn't tired one bit yet it made me nap during the day when I took it! Or maybe it was me having no sleep past couple days and the dose calmed me down enough to sleep.  I was afraid to take another dose at night just in case it kept me even more wide awake.  I'm pretty sure I have something that is called pyroluria and the birth control further depleted zinc and B6.  I'm afraid to take B6 because on withdrawal forums they say b6 is stimulating.  I'm white as a ghost and look like someone who has never seen sun.  Almost albino ooking except I have black hair.  I feel my brain and heart just dying.

The thing is I woke up this morning with what felt like worse anxiety or maybe its the anxiety returning idk.  But i swear it feels like the anxiety returned with more force after that 15mg trial yesterday.  My chest is so heavy and feels like its going to burst, like I'll scream uncontrollably or start punching things just to release it.  Is this heaviness caused by no sleep and cortisol instead? I took 150mg relora but it doesnt seem to help much with the cortisol rushes.  Can i take it with 5htp and melatonin all together?? Please someone help me decipher what happened to me or else I'll be trying every supplement under the sun and exacerbating my withdrawal symptoms.  I am very afraid.  sorry if I don't make sense...I'm really delirious at this point.

Isn’t the birth-control just progesterone and estrogen? Maybe the anxiety came from an excess of one of them or both? Excess estrogen can definitely cause anxiety. If you only took it for a month I’m surprised you’re having withdrawl symptoms . Typically when you take an exogenous hormone and stop the main side effect would be a reduction of that hormone. Maybe your estrogen and progesterone were suppressed and still are suppressed which are causing your issues. I would just get blood work done a full female hormone panel and assess from there.

If you do a google search you'll find enough articles which describe in detail the nutrients depleted from birth control pills, and their deficiencies symptoms. Would start with those which would show as anxiety first.

In starting a new supplement is always best practice to start with the lowest possible dose and slowly increase gradually, to avoid always possible adverse reactions.

John250- That's what I thought would be the case about stopping the pills and side effects would leave.  I am estrogen dominant and now the estrogen must have accumulated in my body and continues to rise.  Stupid doctor instructed me to take 4 pills a day as opposed to people only needed one pill a day.  So it was a massive dose for the body.  I told doctor it was affecting me emotionally and cried in his office and his reply was that "some people just react that way to bcps".  I'm so angry cause it wasn't even effective in stopping the bleeding.  I'm now suffering needlessly.  Thankfully the Relora is softening out my heart palpitations a bit.

Guest- Yep I did some googling and can't believe the power these pills have to deplete the nutrients from the body.  I went out and bought some B6(a must), zinc picolinate, magnesium to start but my issue is how much do I take??  The dosages are so high individually compared to what's in a multivitamin.  I was thinking of starting with a quarter of a 50mg B6 pill. 10mg Zinc and magnesium I already take at 200mg.

Maybe try some DIM to lower estrogen or if needed an anti estrogen like aromasin or arimidex.

Estrogen lowers COMT activity that you have low already, so it makes some sense. You probably have iron deficiency from all that bleeding, and maybe even folate and B12 deficiency if your diet is poor.

also keep in mind that oral contraception leads to elevation of sex hormone-binding globulin that can persists for long time after stopping and may have negative effects.

Thank you! i did not know this. Have any suggestions to mitigate this? As of now I am taking a methylation optimizer my genetics specialist gave me that includes:

-B1 25mg
-B2 25mg
-B3 25mg
-B5 45mg
-B6 45mg
-inosital hexaphosphate 25mg
-choline bitartrate 25mg
-B7 100mcg
-Folinic acid 225mcg
-D3 500 IU
-K2 50 mcg
-trimethylglycine 100mg

I’ve made my way up to 1 pill now, afraid to take the second pill in case it causes any agitation. A separate bottle of B12 was included but wary as I am already experiencing agitation from the birth control side effects.

I start lymphatic drainage massage with my acupuncturist on Monday. Do you think it’s a good option to move estrogen out? Also do you think it will be helpful for the sex hormone binding globulin effect?

I suddenly experienced spine pain and not sure if its from the 5htp dose I took or from the hormones causing me an inflammation reaction in my body. I may even suspect the b vitamins causing a methylation reaction? If so, nothing I can do since I need to replenish.

Though I don't think so, methylation could be easily damped by taking the nicotinic acid from of niacin or vitamin B3. Which you immediately could feel. However, this form can cause acute flushing, therefore start low and go slow by gradually increasing.
