After almost 8 years of using about 120/day of standardized Ginkgo extract I need to come off. It started giving me heart palpitations/arrythima (at least I suspect it since I eliminated everything else in my stack that could cause this). Now, since Ginkgo has anti-coagulative effects I'm really afraid to stop cold turkey due to the risk of getting a cloth (I'm 40). I am considering switching to another comparably weak blood-thinner. Maybe baby aspirin? Problem is that I have a very sensitive stomach. Any other suggestions? All ideas/input VERY welcome.

Thanks - good a good read. I may have to add in something with mild AChE inhibitory action to compensate for that action of Gingko too (That is if my symptoms are not actually due to too high ACh - investigating this possibility as well).

Thanks, any supplements recommended?

Would you generally recommend DanShen over baby aspirin?

They both have benefits but DanShen has a lot more health benefits other than blood thinning so I would go with that first.

I'd go baby aspirin, just to be safe.

I’m surprised there would be any withdrawal symptoms from a herbal supplement like ginkgo. At first I was thinking since it’s a MAO inhibitor maybe that’s where the withdrawal would come from but then I read this:

You should use ginger as the anticoagulant.  It definitely thins blood, inhibits COX, prevents redox while boosting metabolism, and has curious effects on males.

You really don't need ginkgo anyways.  It is just poor man's adderall, ginseng and tea are much better.  You see if you are going to think for yourself, do it well.  Soak up everything around you and be determined to be the best.  Follow your heart and let nothing stand in your way. If others think you are crazy for learning python, go, rust, or dart.. show them wrong and lead the way.
