Statement of intent

We are leading a GPLv3 Licensed non-profit project based on ESHA and nutritiondata.self.com.

We are very ambitious in our goals and we are experiencing the "paralysis of perfection".

Mainly seeking Python developers for now, but also welcoming Android/iOS/web developers, an SQL analyst, or generally anyone who can act as a consultant in good object-oriented design.  If you are good at giving legal advice I would also like to talk.

We are expecting a few hours per week of collaboration, and are flexible on the below requirements.

Volunteer job description

  • 3+ years of Python, Java, or related object-oriented programming
  • Knowledge of Android SDK and WebServices
  • 1+ year database experience in relational/flat-file schemes (columnar, server-less)
  • Not afraid of weakly-structured data, large spreadsheets, or custom APIs/scripts
  • Be organized and be passionate about food/nutrition research and mathematics
  • Must also be an original, somewhat unorthodox thinker
  • Nice to have: experience with Firebase, node/angular, REST, SOAP, or consuming webAPIs

Closing remarks

If you have questions or remarks, please ask here or shoot me a PM if you feel it is a private matter.

I can explain the current direction and challenges of the project.
