In the 4th quarter, Tesla cars had one accident for every 2.91 million miles driven in which drivers had Autopilot engaged. For those driving without Autopilot, we registered one accident for every 1.58 million miles driven.

NHTSA’s most recent data shows that in the United States there is an automobile crash every 436,000 miles. Tesla cars with autopilot engaged are 6.6 times safer than average US cars. Tesla cars without autopilot are 3.6 times safer than average US cars.

Even if the autopilot was only twice as safe as human drivers, we should try to get as many Tesla's on the road as possible. The amount of lives to be saved on the highway is a lot.

Yet most people still want to take their chances, instead of allowing much safer self-driving cars on the road.

The fear of change is one of the most common fears that people face.

Did Tesla already fix their scheduling problem?

I also recently spoke had a conversation with someone, and that person still believed that Tesla cars were around 60K.  So perhaps, they should focus more on letting people know that their model 3 is around 30K.

There's also strong lobbies attempting to stop Tesla
