Around 13 years ago i developed tinnitus in my right ear. Since i create electronic music this wasn't perhaps a total shock, but i'm also a person who has always been very aware of tinnitus and why it happens.

When i create music i never use high volume, i use as low volume as you possibly can (there's a limit of course). At this specific time i did use headphones though (low volume) but the creation process and listening could go on for many hours with little to no rest for my ears, this is why i thought i got Tinnitus.

At this time i also used Minoxidil, only for a short time though (a month or so) because it seemed to give me extreme palpitation at night, waking up thinking i was gonna get a heart attack. So i stopped when this happened.

Last year i started using a low concentration of Minoxidil, it worked fine, sleep was good etc. Some month passed and i noticed my tinnitus had gotten a lot worse. It made me really depressed (the first time i got T it was terrible, i stopped doing music for years).

So I was thinking i had been careless again, creating music for too long with little to no rest for my poor ears. Then i started thinking its so strange that i suddenly seem to have "glass ears". Maybe it's something in my diet, i started fasting (24 to 72h) to see if anything would happen, it changed nothing. I started reading up about certain supplements i take. Then i decided to google for Minoxidil and Tinnitus, and bingo, several people reported getting T from Minoxidil usage.

So something that is supposed to give you hair on your scalp also seems to kill hair cells in the ear?

I'm not sure where i'm going with this lol, i guess i just want to make people aware that it might cause T (permanent perhaps). So I'd be very careful with using it, perhaps especially if you are a person who goes to clubs or listen to a lot of music for extended periods, it might make you more prone to get it.

I've also been theorizing, if Minoxidil seemingly reaches the inner ear from using this topical solution on the scalp (temples), then maybe a solution (if its ever developed) to grow back dead hairs could be applied in this region instead to rebuild hairs. I guess one problem with taking e.g a pill is that it can be hard to know if it really reaches this rather specific area of the body? The inner ear is a very problematic region to reach as i take it. Of course, this is obviously very hypothetical usage, i'm not a doctor or a scientist and i have no idea if the problem is even dead hair cells or if it did something else.

Thoughts? Anyone found a supplement that has helped?
