What is the Elysium human trial worth? And do NR really work on humans?

Hey guys,

 

As seen on this link on the Elysium website,  I see that:

 

Is there any human data available on Basis?

 

Yes. Elysium conducted its first clinical trial designed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of Basis. The results were published in November 2017 in Nature Partner Journals: Aging and Mechanisms of Disease, an open access journal that provides a forum for the world’s most important research in the fields of aging. The study, which was placebo-controlled, randomized, and double-blind, evaluated the safety and efficacy of Basis in 120 participants ages 60-80 over an eight-week period. Participants received either the recommended dose (250 mg NR and 50 mg pterostilbene), double the recommended dose or a placebo daily for the eight-week trial. The study also showed that in participants taking the recommended dose of Basis, NAD+ levels increased from baseline by an average of 40 percent at four weeks and maintained that increase for the duration of the trial. Participants taking double the recommended daily dose saw their NAD+ levels increase approximately 90 percent at four weeks, and a significantly higher level of NAD+ (compared to the recommended dose of Basis) was maintained for the duration of the trial. The study also confirmed the safety of Basis, demonstrating that participants experienced no serious adverse effects and that Basis continues to be safe for daily use as determined by standard safety measures.

This is the first-ever demonstration that NAD+ levels can be increased and sustained over a period of time. Confirming that Basis is an effective NAD+ precursor in humans is a vital first step to elucidating how Basis supports human health.

But my question is: 

Okay, we have no doubt NR rises NAD+ in Human body.

But, correct me if I'm wrong, every human studies basically say: "Ok, NR rises NAD+ in humans and looks safe", but is there any study really showing any effect at all?

I mean, of course regarding longevity, effects would take years or decades to be measureable and we will probably know if that works in 30 years... but is there any way to test it?

Are there any study showing at least some enhancement in human health?

We don't need to wait 30 years to get lifespan results ;)

There are two studies on cognitive effects, others on cardiac and mitochondrial health. If NR helps mitochondrial health, then it should reduce cancer rates extend lifespan etc. 

We already know that it raises NAD+ more in old users than young. If you're over 50 you'll probably be able to feel the results... if you're young you can wait a couple years for lots of trials to complete (and take their ten-month delay to publish... still the average, just like it was 30 years ago). 

You can get on PubMed and read Tanzi and Brenner's papers.

Nestle corporation just paid Chromadex $4 million just for the right to buy NR for Nestle products... they're expecting it to go somewhere, either in geriatrics or pregancy supplements. Here's an interview with Dr. Brenner, he talks about NR in pregnancy and postpartum @39:00:
