Hi everyone.
I've been on Seroquel for my bipolar II for 6 years and it's been a miserable time. I've tried to come off so many times. Sometimes cold turkey, sometimes tapering but I get so much neural excitation I have to go back to it every time. The problem I think is my dopamine is so upregulated due to antagonism that it overloads when I reduce the dose and I get super stressed and agitated. Also have a poor working/short term memory, sometimes poor cognition.
Any nootropics etc you think could help. Bear in mind I also have GABA kindling so have to avoid all GABAergics, previous serotonin syndrome so avoid most things that increase serotonin by much. I also think anything cholinergic I'm reacting to as well - can't eat eggs, tried lion's mane and phospholipids with bad reaction.
I've tried Risperidone, its worse than Seroquel. Can't try some other antipsychotics like Aripiprazole due to SERT inhibition or Olanzapine due to GABA activation. Also tried Lamictal but it was too serotonergic. It seems nearly every other mood stabilizer is either GABAergic or serotonergic. Would be open to trying another if it would help. I think I have damage to my serotonin/dopamine/GABA/choline systems but what I can find looks like it also increases their levels which I'm not sure will help. Not really sure how to proceed.
I'm thinking something anti - NMDA / AMPA /glutamate related might help but haven't managed to find anything yet, apart from Dexanabinol which I can't find any reports of.
I'm open to suggestions! Thanks
