According to amazon, this basically resolves everything that could possibly be wrong with you.  Muscle pain.  Wounds.  Sciatica.  Gone gone gone.

According to a thread here, the highest amounts studied in humans is 20,000 SPU 3x a day but this is commonly sold in 80,000 SPU quantities.  Furthermore, some people developed respiratory infections at 20k 3x a day because of mucolytic activity.

How safe is 80,000?!

Post experiences and any advantage or con experienced.

I've used serrapeptase many times in past yrs hoping for some benefits. I could not find any noticeable results, regardless of what I was hoping it might do, regardless of the dose taken.

I have taken 40k iu serrapeptase and 40k nattokinase per day on empty stomach in the morning waiting an hour before eating afterward. Stopped for a few months and have started again. I noticed improvements in long standing sinus issues and also with the bronchial irritation and phlem problem I had.

@ironfistx,  that page has a lot of reports of rare side effects. You will find that with most any drug or supplement, even aspirin for example. Most of the ones with problems were taking much more than 20k a day of S and some up to 240k.

Its like anything, you weigh the potential benefits vs side effects. Arterial deposits show no symptoms until very advanced, so why would you expect to feel any different in a month or two? I keep taking rapamycin though I can't say for sure I notice any positive effects. Its the same with many things, you take them for the statistical probability that they will help you barring any bad sides.

Supposedly helps with clearing arteries.

I am using a low dose as part of a proteolytic enzyme to clear scar tissue from a stomach hernia.  Scar tissue can grab your intestine and kink it, the US medical solution is to eat smaller low fiber meals(not healthy, you want high fiber meals).  Depending on how much clearance you have, this might work, but I have read several horror stories of people getting their stomach pumped 3-4 times a year.  I have never had it happen again and eat full meals with fiber.

On a side note, I had a cyst on my wrist at the time, little bubble of fluid.   Medical solution is surgery, but while taking serrapeptase for my stomach, it popped the cyst as well.

I have a sitter who had a brain aneurism, she takes it to help with possible future blood clots.  Her doctors offered her no advice/prescription beyond exercise and diet.

My wife has tried it to deal with her allergies and coughing in the morning, didnt help much there.

If you do take it, look for one that states it doesnt uses chemicals for enteric coating, Phthalates.

Nope.

I've used it as part of a mixed proteolytic enzyme preparation (Repair--no commercial interest) for many years to decrease acute swelling and Repair works very well.  In addition I was just prescribed serrapeptase by itself as part of treatment for bacterial overgrowth of my gut (I had decade of antibiotics as a child) by Dr. Cole a natural medicine physician.

NB:  I can only speak to and have experience with proteolytic enzymes for treating acute swelling e.g. tendonitis, inflammation after surgery, fractures, etc.
