Are you not concerned that an oxygen enriched atmosphere will INCREASE THE GENERATION OF REACTIVE OXYGEN SPECIES?

 

As a separate protocol I inhale 90% Oxygen in order to stimulate HIF.  ROS are a problem if they stay high for too long.  A short time does not deplete the anti-oxidants in the mitochondria and stimulates HIF.

 

However, the evidence I have seen is that you need at least 60% Oxygen to have that effect.  I have just started reading a book on HIF which takes some effort, but looks good to me.

Your note reference addresses normal atmospheric oxygen, not 90%.

You provide no citation in response to my evidence that indicates elevated oxygen content results in higher production of ROS.

You provide no evidence that mitochondria can "handle" excess ROS elevated levels of oxygen, you simply assert it.

I am quite drunk at the moment which means that I am not in the best position to respond to these questions.

 

I am, however, quite pleased with the blood tests yesterday that indicated my cellular health last week was materially better than May last year. (DNAm phenoage from 57-58 to 52-53) that I don't really mind.  I am particularly pleased that my protocol which includes from time to time excessive alcohol consumption still results in an improvement of cellular health. (from a hedonistic perspective that is quite nice)

 

When I sober up I may look at this again.

And you think this may be a result of the hydrogen therapy? Or many different things?

I think it is the result of many different things.  I would not say the Hydrogen Therapy was an essential part of this - and I have only just started this.  At the moment (and I happen to be breathing Hydrogen just now and will do so for another 5 mins) I have not isolated out anything I think is caused specifically by Hydrogen although I understand the evidence base.

 

To some extent my broader strategy is to start with trying a lot of things.  I have isolated out the effect of some of them, but if by trying a lot of things I can improve my health I see that as a positive thing.  I do a lot of reading and I am interested in working out which things I am doing are having what effects.  However, if you take an issue like bone structure that requires calcium, D3, K2 (MK4 and MK7) and Melatonin to work most effectively.  Just one of those things is not enough.  There may be other synergistic effects.

 

I intend doing the blood tests more regularly.  I may do them quarterly. Having read the paper behind the Levine formula I think it is solidly grounded and I am more comfortable with it that getting Epigenetic tests done.  It also links in more strongly to other medical issues and I can test for a wide range of things not just the Levine variables.

I am doing a lot of things including breathing Molecular Hydrogen. I cannot, however, isolate out the effects of Molecular Hydrogen.

I have one or two molecular hydrogen drinks a day. I have not been able to tie its effects to a particular biomarker, but I have noticed that it helps greatly with inflammation and oxidative stress. If I don't get enough sleep, I can just drink a hydrogen water and I feel much better in 30 minutes. Same for if I have a headache or am tired from a long day of work or travel.

I have been contemplating making myself a brown gas generator, just for something to do. This would be to breathe it.

 

But I might start first with drinking  the water, to see if I get any benefits.

I've experimented pretty extensively with hydrogen-rich water (tablets, pressurized generators, capsules) - and haven't noticed any effects. I've tested it on energy levels, wakefulness/sleep deprivation, etc - but certainly have not felt the profound benefits often reported.

The only area where I have possibly noticed some benefit is consumption during exercise. I feel like there may be some anti-fatigue effect - but this could also just be the result of increasing my hydration levels.
