Hallow everyone. So I do a bunch if stuff for longevity. For the last 3 years I have taken about 3 to 6 grams of taurine daily.
It is apparently a SIRT1 activator wh8ch is nice. But I also used it for sleep and anti anxiety, as well as the fact it seemed to help massively with water retention when I would have it...
I saw this post and it scared me.
A user said, "RE Taurine (Needs references, but I haven't got time. These are easy to verify with Google)
Taurine inhibits PARP-1
Excessive PARP-1 uses up cytosolic NAD+.
Inhibiting PARP-1 can restore cytosolic NAD+ with amazing immediate benefits
But PARP-1 participates in DNA repair
Inhibiting PARP-1 with Taurine will reduce DNA repair.
DNA repair is one of the main activities of cells occurring many times per second
When DNA repair lags behind DNA damage, the DNA damage will accumulate
I will not personally inhibit PARP on purpose (Rutin also inhibits PARP)
Taking TRU Niagen and Grape Seed Extract likely has your cytosolic NAD+ levels good without Taurine"
Basically this user cautions against the usage of Taurine as it inhibits PARP1 which sounds good in some ways, but also screws around with DNA repair due to said inhibition if PARP1.... should I drop taurine entirely? Or simple lower my dosage?
I notice taurine only helps me when I take at least 3 grams a day. I do not know what to do and feel discouraged now.
Thanks everyone. If I must, I will find a replacement.
