We have a problem with heavy metals in food. Things like mercury and lead should not be in our food supply and definitely does not belong in the body. So why don't we just create a bunch of nanomachines to dig through the dirt used for farming where they extract the dangerous substances and remove it from the soil? What is technically standing in the way of doing that?
