The question I would have is, would keeping a higher collagen extracellular content over time lead to reduced senscence for most tissues, and better stem cells maintenance?
If I understand the study properly, senescent cells increase MMPs, which degrade the collagen of the extracellar matrix, which in turn, make cells more susceptible to senescence. Could the collagen prevent the SASP from contaminating other cells that surround a senescent cell?
What is the best way to maintain collagen all over the body without increasing the risk of fibrosis? Is it to reduce collagenase with certain compounds like blueberry, or is it to increase formation of new collagen with collagen supplements, vitamin C, etc? If the former is the better method, drinking white tea could be of benefit:
