My theory is that the reason past empires like the Mongol empire succeeded so much is because they ate certain foods that contain a lot of L-Tyrosine (dopamine) and food low in serotonin. I believe the broader the diet of people are the more likely they are to be more productive because they are getting more different nutrients. Now how much did this play a role? I guess it depends on many other factors but diet was the decisive one for this time. And Celiac disease was significantly less common among East Asians so they had more absorption of food and less gut issues. So they just got lucky with the foods on accident. Some say the bigger the land the more access to stuff and winning or forests etc
