Hey everyone,
Do any of you know if there any alternatives to the statins or resins, or any upcoming alternatives? Or other ways one can get down their cholesterol besides exercise and diet?
Thanks.

Exercise and diet are the best methods - and provide other incredible benefits for long term health of the mind and body. For a natural alternative, red yeast rice reliably lowers cholesterol. If you read about it online, you will find mainstream outlets discouraging its use, not because it is dangerous or doesn't work, only because there is widely varying purity and potency among the various brands.

I took Red Yeast Rice for a decade in lieu of statins. Definitely lowered cholesterol. also caused muscle pain just like some statins.

Were you taking ubiquinol (CoQ10) concurrently? This is purported to mitigate the muscle pain/weakness caused by RYR.

The best alternative is to ignore your doctor, or get a new one. Statins are a scam.

Plaque in the artery walls (atherosclerosis) results from macrophages gorging on LDL that gets inside the artery wall. Medical dogma is to drive the LDL in the blood stream so low that not much is left to get in the artery wall. Since LDL is natural, normal, and biologically necessary, this is a desperate attempt to curb the heart disease epidemic for lack of anything better. But healthy people with high cholesterol often live to a ripe old age without developing atherosclerosis. Why? For Patrick Theut's answer see Reverse CAC Score and Heart Disease.

That's because Red yeast rice contains monacolin K which is the same primary active in Lovostatin.
In fact Red yeast rice is from where Statins were developed in the first place.

Oatmeal
A number of formal assessments have been conducted subsequent to the FDA review, and virtually all have reached the same conclusion, namely, consumption of oats and oat-based products significantly reduces total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol concentrations without adverse effects on high-density lipoprotein cholesterol or triglyceride concentrations. In addition, a number of new insights about the potential benefits of oats have emerged over the past 10 years. These more recent data indicate that including oats and oat-based products as part of a lifestyle management program may confer health benefits that extend beyond total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol reduction.

Also psyllium fiber

Correct Red Yeast Rice is just the natural version of statins, so if you want to avoid statins, then RYC should also be avoided

My cholesterol came out very high (about 300 total) with HDL being 31, LDL 210. Doctor is strongly recommending Crestor (Rosuvastatin). I already have a healthy diet and exercise regimen. So, without some medicine, I don't think I can lower cholesterol. Would Crestor at a much lower dose, say 5mg/every other day be better than 20mg a day that doctor wants me to take? I'm 40.

What's your "healthy diet"?
