Oleocanthal, is a known constituent in EVOO. Oleocanthal inhibits MTORC1, P3IK, at nanomolar concentration, and likely PDPK1.
I propose that the primary longevity signal seen in the EVOO and C60 arms was due to the action of oleocanthal on the MTORC1/PI3K pathway, and the dose administered.
Recently, PDPK1 inhibition has been shown to reverse cellular senescence.
Additional longevity effect is likely due to mitophagy and or mitochondrial rescue by the C60.
