I haven't received any email notifications since March 2. I'm "following" so many forums and threads that I would normally receive several emails every day.

There is nothing in my spam folder. I have a Gmail address. I haven't changed any forum settings. My Notification Options are all turned on with notification frequency set to "Immediate".

Is anyone else with gmail not receiving notification emails?

The last email I received was July 8. Before that I received 2 emails in June, 14 emails in May, and 47 emails in April.

I guess I'm the only one since no one else is complaining and after 905 views of my original message so far.

Myself neither, since May, it may explain too why the forums seem less active - i would be much more likely to read notifications through email than through the site.

I have reached out to (and 'chased') our dear hosts a Canaca, but so far no response. Perhaps there is someone IT savvy who knows the answer ??

Obviously, this worked fine for years and decades until this summer and we now get many bounces. This seems to be a common issue: https://civicrm.stac...and-a-messageid

The main bounce message references an invalid message-ID header, but I wonder if it could also have something to do with DKIM.

We appear to have some options to effect php mail commands (see attached a screenshot) but I'm at a loss what commands to use here and/or whether something needs to be done serverside.

I've been receiving my notifications just fine. But my email address is based on my own domain. Perhaps the problem is specific to certain domains (e.g. gmail, hotmail, etc.).

Caliban,

Running your own mail server or using a shared host for sending email practically doesn't work anymore. You're lucky if it does and it's only a matter of time before it will be blacklisted. It's a never ending battle. You have to pay a bigger mail host for any hope of it being reliable.

Here's a recent thread on Hacker News discussing this blog post. GSuite, Outlook, Fastmail, and Protonmail are popular options.

The email notifications stopped for me in July. I am on gmail.

I will try to use another mailbox to see if that would make any difference.

A Longecity admin could try submitting to Gmail's Sender Contact Form and select "Your messages are incorrectly classified as Spam or Phishing."

I gave in and switched my email to Outlook and I'm getting email alerts again.

I wish I didn't have to do that. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before Outlook starts blocking Longecity email.

Very sorry that this has not been fixed properly. I have queried the issue with our hosts again.

I use Amazon SES SMTP with my forum and other business newsletters. You get 3k emails/mo for free I think. It would be simple to input their SMTP info in that screenshot you shared earlier. Other SMTP providers have larger free plans, but SES is the cheapest once you surpass that. If you continue having trouble with your current setup you might want to consider using an SMTP rather than sending directly from your server.

Mailjet: https://www.mailjet.com/pricing/ - Free tier is 6k/mo, 200/day.
Brevo 300/day free https://www.brevo.com/pricing/

I see you also don't have DMARC set up. You could search your server host's documentation for how to enable it. If you do a web search for any of this stuff there are lots of written & video guides.

MXtoolbox is useful https://mxtoolbox.co...rg&run=toolpage.

It appears that the notifications have stopped again. I would recommend switching to an SMTP.

Sorry for the problems, I will see if I can get our software personnel to look into it soon.

Following up since it's still not working a couple weeks later -- switching to a free SMTP is very simple and can be done in a few minutes. Who are the software personnel?
