This is an interesting review of Ferulic Acid and Berberine

https://openheart.bm.../1/e001801.long

the key initial part is this:  Ferulic acid, a bacterial metabolite of anthocyanins, seems likely to be a primary mediator of the health benefits associated with anthocyanin-rich diets,

It seems to help with improving the quality of mitochondria (particularly with Berberine and Melatonin)

OH this is super interesting I did not know ferulic acid was a byproduct of anthocyanins.

I eat lots of anthos, blueberries, black berries, cherries, red onions, red leaf lettuce, grape seed ext,  etc

So this is good news here.

Its an interesting one because if it is the active molecule for anthocyanins it will make managing food inputs a lot easier.  An interesting point about blueberries is they have little citric acid.
