Why Anthony Fauci could've faced five years in jail if Biden hadn't pardoned him

https://www.dailymai...auguration.html

Dr Anthony Fauci was given a pre-emptive pardon by outgoing President Biden on Monday - likely due to fears he could be charged with perjury by Trump's DOJ.

The former White House advisor has long been accused of misleading Congress under oath about funding risky virus research in Wuhan before the Covid pandemic.

While Fauci had not been charged with a crime, there were growing calls among Republicans - including Elon Musk - to charge the 84-year-old with perjury, which carries a prison sentence of at least five years.

In a May 2021 Senate hearing on the origins of Covid, Dr Fauci said his old agency, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, had ‘not ever and does not now fund gain-of-function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology.’

But emails showed that in February 2020 Dr Fauci, NIH head Dr Francis Collins, and Dr Peter Daszak, head of the company that dispersed grants to the WIV, EcoHealth alliance acknowledged that scientists at Wuhan University were working on GOF experiments to study bat viruses adapting to human infection prior to the outbreak in Wuhan.

In one email, Dr Fauci admits the scientists had concerns that Covid might have been genetically engineered and that these were worsened by the fact that gain-of-function research was taking place in Wuhan before the pandemic.

Dr Fauci, whose pardon extends all the way back to 2014, has since claimed that he was using a different definition of GOF during his Senate hearing.

If the Department of Justice had pursued criminal charges against Fauci, prosecutors would have had to prove that Dr Fauci made a false statement and knew it was false, but deliberately misstated the facts.

Now that Fauci has his blanket pardon in hand, I'd like to see him put under oath and asked detailed questions about the funding of gain of research by his agency in Wuhan, the origins of covid, and issues around the US government's response to the pandemic.

With the possibility of prosecution off the table, he no longer can appeal to the 5th amendment. In fact, his only legal jeopardy would be in committing perjury either on the stand or before Congress, which Biden's retroactive pardon can not shield him from.

Oh My!  This is entertaining and informative.  He lives and works in San Francisco, but it doesn't seem to have affected his mind.

I like this guy and I like the way he talks. How did Fauci get to keep that job for 40 years? He must have been appointed by Reagan.

Now that the USAID financial transactions are being made public, we know why Dr. Fauci's pre-emptive pardon (for what crimes?) were dated back to 2014. That is the year when USAID funding started flowing to the Wuhan lab in order to facilitate gain of function research. Dr. Fauci knew this was going on and lied to the public. Someone somewhere needs to bring criminal charges otherwise we do not live in a just world.

Most of this was known prior to and during the COVID panic, but the information was vigorously suppressed by the US government and the general public. I look back and am amazed at how the Stanford Prison experiment played out in real time. Normal people and even some posters here in the forum flew into vein-popping rage against their neighbors in order to suppress real information about the origins of the COVID panic. Some still cling to the the false reality that everything they saw on TV during the COVID panic was authentic/honest.

As more people find out the truth, they are asking "what the hell did I inject into my arm?"
