This is an intriguing paper. I've yet to read the full text, but it seems to be suggesting telomere dysfunction can lead to the accumulation of potentially harmful dipeptides VR and GL. It would be interesting to discover if this could be caused by telomere shortening, and therefore if this could be one mechanism by which cellular senescence is induced - I note that VR was found to accumulate in DNA replication forks, which supports this hypothesis.
