SIRT6 activation may promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. The study linked to below, highlights the oncogenic role of SIRT6 in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), where SIRT6-mediated activation of the ERK1/2 pathway was found to promote cancer cell growth and invasion. Also, SIRT6 overexpression was observed to inhibit the intrinsic apoptotic pathway by upregulating Bcl-2 and downregulating Bax and cleaved caspase-3.
