Hello to all,

I hope to find some quick and friendly help here.

I woke up yesterday and have pain in the perineum area. In other words, the area between the testicles and anus.

At the same time I have a slight burning sensation after urinating, but it has to be said that this happens from time to time and I would therefore only describe it as a symptom to a limited extent.

I've googled around a bit and it keeps telling me that it could be prostate inflammation.

I have an appointment with the doctor tomorrow here in Germany ( i am going to ask him to set up some test like antibiogramm and so ) and as I suspect, he will prescribe me antibiotics...., I really want to avoid this at all costs.

I wanted to ask here what alternatives you know of to treat it.

I should mention that the reason for my aversion to antibiotics is that 3 years ago I had to take levofloxacin for 5 days because of an urethritis and since then I have had a very sensitive gut (diarrhea, intolerances, allergies) and worst of all various neuropathies in my arms and legs and even my face.

I am therefore urgently looking for help from you and your expertise. In order to get the whole thing under control with something else but antibotics.

Because antibiotics are really the last thing I want.

I should mention that I am 33 years old and no history in prostata infection and so on.

Big thanks in advance !!!

When I got prostatitis, I was terrified to learn the only meds commonly used for this were quinolones (Cipro) & sulfa (Bactrim).  What was worse, is that resistance to these meds has grown quite common, so you go on one med for a month or more and if that doesn't work you get the other.

There was an old prostatitis forum, where many members had chronic infections they had treated several times, yet still had recurrence.  Some doctors in Europe had tried an old drug "Fosfomycin" out of desperation, and wound up having remarkable success that was repeated and confirmed by others.

Fosfomycin is very benign regarding side effects and dangers, and it is often the go-to anti-B for pregnant women who get UTI (bladder) infections, as it presents minimal risk to the fetus.  The only problem with fosfo is the kidneys filter it out of blood very quickly, so it doesn't work for much of anything outside the urinary tract.  Apparently, fosfo is absorbed from the bladder to surrounding tissues fairly well.  Unfortunately, the prostate tissue is so dense and avascular that it takes continual treatment for a month or more for fosfo to completely penetrate the prostate.

You can help this process along by taking your once daily dose of fosfo late in the evening, an hour or so before bed, as this will help concentrated fosfomycin rich urine linger in the bladder and be efficiently absorbed.  If you take it during the day, when you've got high fluid throughput (drinking & urinating), you'll wash your dose of fosfo right through your bladder and it will be far less efficiently absorbed.

Most of the urologist's treating prostatitis with fosfo utilize daily, 3 gram dosing for the first week, with continuing treatment of 3 grams every other day (48 hours) for at least a month.

I knocked out my haemophilus influenzae bacterial infection (which had become chronic) on my first try with fosfo, with no side effects to speak of at all.  Two thumbs-UP for this remarkable alternative to the dreaded quinolones or sulfa.
