I suspect some of this might actually be stemming from actual anxiety and me focusing on what I say to others to much but I’m only 19 and I’ve definitely been noticing some brain fog. I just feel “out of it” and I’ve noticed at my job that I often need reminders or need to ask things again to make sure. I definitely know diet and exercise could be a problem because I’ve stopped lifting and I’ve been eating more carb heavy. Is there anything else I could include to work at my best everyday?
How do I increase my overall cognition and mental sharpness?

Diet and exercise are unbelievable for improving cognition. Proper sleep is important.
Anxiety? It is possible you have normal anxiety. Everyone has anxiety. I have anxiety. It is part of being human. Recently, drug companies have convinced a lot of people that their anxiety is abnormal. Mostly, it is not. If you are taking drugs for anxiety, that might be affecting your cognition very negatively.

Carb heavy is almost guaranteed to be a big part of the problem. Carbs really cause brain fog and cognitive performance issues for me. Low carb or very low carb was very helpful for me. But just going paleo would be a good starting point at minimum. Low inflammation diet. If extreme issues, progress to something as extreme as carnivore.
And yes exercise and all the other common sense stuff like sleep and keeping circadian rhythms in check with things like light therapy is critical. Huberman has many great podcasts worth watching to that will help with general health and all lead to better cognition.
