This is such big news I will post it again!!

First new anti-psychotic class in over 70 years.

Potentially transformative change incoming for global society.

KarXT approved by FDA -- does not have typical anti-psychotic side effects.

Might so called sidewalk schizophrenia now evaporate?

Truly enormous news.

Patients can take their treatment without the dilemma of being burdened with

horrible side-effects.

One does wonder what might now happen to the anti-psychiatry perspective?

Effective treatment --- no side effects -- seems like wins all around.

The first round of due diligence is checking out.

Looks good so far.

(Sorry everyone I am trying to post a figure to this post though the Longecity software is not cooperating.

The figure shows the 3 phase 3 Emergent trials for KarXT; the figures for the time course of Total PANSS

shown for placebo and KarXT look very consistent from one trial to the next. By the p-values, there is no

question that KarXT is superior to placebo. However, it really would have been best to test against standard

of care. On first glance, KarXT side effects relative to placebo also look good.)

All three of the phase 3 trials with KarXT have reported roughly 10 points relative benefits on Total PANSS versus placebo.

It is remarkable though how large the placebo effect is over this short 5 week period. Patients rapidly recover from psychosis

with or without anti-psychotic treatment. However, the additional benefit from anti-psychotic treatment clearly would be helpful.

Considering the benefits this will offer humanity some level of celebration does seem in order. Quantitatively, the benefits

could be on the order of $350 annually in America. It feels like a new dawn for our species. There is a whole range of

schizophrenic background technology that is developing along with KarXT that a psychiatric revolution now appears to

be underway. In addition to KarXT, there is a cognitive enhancer treatment through glycine that is expected to read out

in the next few months, there is the polygenic GWAS, there is also the blood biomarkers that are expected over the next

few months. Clearly this is the golden age of clinical schizophrenia treatment -- the community has waited decades for

this to happen-- and now it is happening  It is happening NOW!

Considering how much my family has been affected by this over the last several generations, I suppose I should be out

there enjoying the party, though I think that would probably only make me psychotic. I think I'll just take this one mellow; though

it is tremendously exciting.

Yeah it's quite remarkable, an effective antipsychotic with completely different mechanism of action.

It's called Cobenfy now.
