Hey guys,

I took a single dose of 100mg of 5-htp a month ago. Wasn't really in desperate need of it, but thought it would benefit my sleep and mood a bit and wanted to try it out. I should have known better in advance, since I always react pretty sensitive to medication and especially to serotonergic ones. Well it turned out, this time was no different: took it after a meal in the evening. Some minutes later my stomach began to hurt, and after that my intestines.

Went to bed and the symptoms that occured the next day last till today. I have uo to 7 or 8 bowel movements a day, getting thinner and softer/watery in shape and form. They feel incomplete up to the last one. Every BM is accompanied with lots of diarhea like pressure in my colon just to be pretty normal when it comes out (but had a few actual diarrheas also in those 5 weeks). In the evening lots of bloating and a pressure like and sore feeling throughout the day in my colon.

I know this sounds ludicrous just from one pill, but I never had any issues with my bowels before, went to the loo like 2-3 times a day, could eat everything.

Can you guys tell me anything to ease my sorrow. I'm really starting to panic here, because I fear, that I confounded with a finely tuned and complex digestive system and brought it out of balance.

Thanks so much!
