I'm sold on Dr Zelenko's zinc + ionophore therapy, for more than just COVID, as flu is also a single strand RNA virus, and Ralph Baric, the godfather of coronavirus research pointed out back in 2010: Zn2+ Inhibits Coronavirus and Arterivirus RNA Polymerase Activity In Vitro and Zinc Ionophores Block the Replication of These Viruses in Cell Culture

https://pubmed.ncbi....h.gov/21079686/

Tamiflu for influenza requires you get started on the med within 48 hour of symptom onset, and COVID viral replication is supposed to be peaking on day 2 of symptoms.  This tells me having something on hand to take immediately upon realizing you're coming down with something might be a good idea.  I've heard the COVID tests frequently don't accurately show positive on the first symptomatic day, so I'm not waiting...  I'm treating early!

We did a deep dive on the zinc ionophores here: https://www.longecit...inc-ionophores/

And we know Dr Zelenko specified zinc sulfate in his protocol.  Gal220 enlightened us with the fact zinc sulfate is one of only 3 forms of ionic zinc (Only zinc salts are ionic(sulfate, acetate, ascorbate).

A deep dive on different forms of zinc here: https://natureprovid...s-of-ionic-zinc

So why is zinc sulfate so mysterious?  I went shopping, and iherb (huge supplement wholesaler) had ZERO offerings of zinc sulfate.  Went to Life Extension's monstrously large site, and again, ZERO offerings for zinc sulfate.

OK, if it's not on amazon, I give up.  Eureka!  I found it!  BUT...  Dozens of bottles of liquid???  Yes, and a few offers of tablets, which listed the ingredient as "zinc sulfate heptahydrate"...  "a hydrate and a metal sulfate. It contains a zinc sulfate".

I don't like the thought of liquid drops, but if this is a superior delivery system, I can certainly go with this.  Are the tablets of zinc sulfate heptahydrate just as good as the liquids?  Is zinc sulfate really a Holy Grail form of zinc?  Or is this a mistaken theory?

Any enlightenment would be greatly appreciated!

Good morning. I generally follow the Zelenko protocol, which is similar to the FLCCC protocol. I have found it to be effective for Covid 19, the one time I tested positive, and for the flu. Zinc has been a problem for me, because it upsets my stomach and raises my blood pressure. Originally I took it with quercetin which led to the stomach issue. I finally decided that that taking it with HCQ was good enough. I never paid attention to the form of zinc, I found zinc gummies, that I could tolerate. I just checked and they are Zinc Citrate. Looking at Zelenko's web site, it refers to "elemental" zinc. I think this refers to pure zinc, and the various types of zinc supplements contain varying percentages of zinc, depending on how they are manufactured.

Here is a website that talks about 12 types of zinc. So, Zinc citrate, that I am taking is made from chelating zinc with citric acid. https://www.onedaymd...absorption.html

It looks like the different types have their good and bad points based on whatever substance the zinc is bound to. Apparently it needs to bound to something else to make it bioavailable. I am not sure that one type works better than another as long as you take enough of it with an ionophore to get it into your cells.

I was able to find zinc sulfate capsules on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.c...435182378&psc=1

It indicates each capsule contains 50 mg of Zinc, from 220 mg of Zinc Sulfate.

So, I am not sure if any of this is helpful for your purposes, but it it is an interesting subject. Let us know what you conclude.

Hey Joe, & thanks so much for the fantastic link: 12 Types of Zinc Supplementation and Absorption 2024

Interesting they don't seem to like Zinc Sulfate...

"Water-soluble and non-chelated, this is an inorganic form of zinc, and the results are mixed on the body absorption and metabolism. Inorganic zinc is not as effective or useable by your body as chelated zinc sources.

Cited most in scientific studies for healing HPV (human papilloma virus), one of the least expensive and most common form of zinc used today, however it has a reputation for causing stomach upset."

-----------------------------------------

But Zinc Sulfate is supposed to be one of the few forms of ionic zinc?  The plot thickens!

I've got multiple forms of zinc, & since high dose supplementation isn't supposed to be harmful short term, I'll go with multiple forms for my first 3-5 days of heavy duty zinc + ionophore therapy.  Viral replication is supposed to peak around day 1-3 post symptom onset, & after this, you should be making antibodies.

It's interesting, Dr Seheult's MedCram# 34 demonstrates how the ionophore appears to be much more important than megadosing zinc:

https://youtu.be/U7F...6uMM-7teTO&t=92

Perhaps multiple ionophores might be the best angle to pursue?  I've got quinine, & fresh brewed green tea contains both EGCG and quercetin, which are both supposed to be ionophores.

I really think BIG GUNS, starting very early (day 1 of symptoms) may be the most important factor in minimizing COVID, flu, and even head colds.

Tis the season, so we shall see.

Let us know how you make out on this. For what it's worth, I agree with throwing everything at it, when symptoms start. I forget where I read it, but some Dr. who favored early treatment of Covid said that using some type of therapeutic, anything useful like a z pack or other antibiotic would help, even if was not a direct cure for covid. And in the beginning, a lot of Doctors were doing that. Giving a z pack or prescribing a steroid helped. Later they were told not to treat at all. But my experience is, throw whatever you have at it right away, and Covid, the flu, and colds do better.
