What does everyone think about the recent revelations of fraud in Alzheimer's research - in regards to the amyloid beta theory of the disease.

 

Even if the theory was bunk or just minimally relevant, I guess one small bonus is that a lot more has been learned about amyloid beta and how to clear it out of the brain.

 

It is kind-of disturbing that there have been many episodes like this in the US over recent decades. Remember the bone density drug that actually made bones more brittle. There has been a lot of accusations that statins are basically useless and maybe harmful. How about the "eating fat makes you fat" propaganda - when it is actually just excess calories - especially sugar - that is the culprit. A whole lot of harmful SSRIs, benzos, and other "head-meds" have been fraudulently prescribed even without any specific diagnostic test for such conditions. I could go on and on.

 

We deserve better for all of the money that is spent on health and disease research. It seems the more meds that are prescribed, the sicker everyone is.
