Fava beans have a very high amount of L-dopa (a bowl could have more than an antiparkisons pill Levadopa)  I'm wondering if eating this could help ADHD by boosting dopamine, or would too much dopamine make it worse? Or would Levadopa help with ADHD

Mucuna Pruriens is similar, a herbal source of L-dopa. L-dopa directly converts to dopamine so yeah, it can be a quick fix for low dopamine conditions.

I'm trying to come up with a herbal stack that mimics the effects of Adderall, for those interested, I'll make a thread about it soon.

but what Ive heard is that adhd people have plenty of dopamine but its "locked" a problem with the transporters. This is my dilema. It helps a lot for Parkinsons but its different for adhd. Maybe mixing it with something else. I know that histamine is bad but an enzyme DAO can reduce that. I know that ghrelin is bad and that can be reduced by avoiding hunger. Im sure that ginkgo biloba is great for sending more blood to the the prefontal cortex, while stress seems to put more action into the amygdala ( impulsivity) at the same time blocking the prefontal lobe. I know that stimulants work in the short term but not sure about caffeine.

True, simply flooding the brain with dopamine may feel good but is rarely the answer to complex mental health problems. Stimulants may work even long term as the dopamine D4 receptor does not downregulate in response to agonism, and Memantine augmentation is often tolerance preventative. But stimulants in general drain the brain and have abuse potential. So yeah, alternative therapies like Ginkgo, Ginseng, Fasoracetam are worth exploring.
