We have a dream
we've been rolling around thick in the dark—
trying to kick start a spark—
trying to kick a flame in your eyes—
and cast a light on the shadow—
leaving no doubt—
there is no doubt we can do this—
one or two of us cant prove this—
we need to mount up—
we need to count up the troops—
armies fight—
count yourself in—
tonight—
pushing mountains—
unite—
building will—
willing we instill—
pushing the plow made of thousands—
plowing hills—
pushing through—
a river erodes—
throw out your pipe dreams—
because a river explodes—
put in your two cents today—
because the change ads up—
I know,--
if you want to rearrange the landscape—
its tough—
but when the people scrape together—
great things go up—
gates rust in the dust its a must we trust that when you put a harness on your lust great chains will bust—
kick a hole through the gate—
because your fate awaits—
you’ve got a date with your grave—
and you want to be late—
The bell is tolling,
But with the will to be free,
We go the mile
On through to infinity.

They are good lyrics but you don't really get the life extension message until the end of it. I think that it's good to talk about pulling together etc. but there should be more mentions of life extension throughout and not so cryptic. If you want to get a message to the masses I reckon you should go for catchy tune and not too complex lyrically. Something that is fun to sing along to and can be understood by all ages and intellects. ;) That's just my opinion though and I'm no expert.

Cool lyrics. Maybe a little too esoteric for the masses. I applaud your effort. The fastest way to get people on board with a movement or idea is through art/film/music. We need more of it.

Thanks, Im going to dig through this forum and bump the lyrics I think are the best for comment. I have been soliciting a musician whos band is called Zia that I think is pretty good, and I think Im finally on the verge of getting her to put one of these sets of lyrics to a tune. Im paying her to do one for now, maybe only one, but Im not sure which lyrics to go with. If you go to my myspace page then maybe you can help me. I have three sets of lyrics in a blue scroll box on the right hand side of my page at myspace.com/uneed2balifeextensionist

Which do you think I should ask her to do? Please give me some feedback on this. Maybe none of them are poignant enough, I dont know.

Dogess, I feel your reasoning on your response, this lyric should have more mentions of life extension in it. Maybe if it were started off with some life extension quote readings... I dont know...

There is an outline for a songs project in the google doc on line 19 that include lyrics like the ones in this topic. We will then move the project from the google doc to the imminst wiki once we get a team focused in on it. So if you want to join this team then let me know.

Imagine what songs can do for the cause? It hypes it up, people listen to it, it will make the meme 100 times easier to spread in many places. Imagine if say, all the videos in the Imminst life extension broadcast channel could be summarized and turned into songs? And they can, why cant they? They could be turned into simple, interesting jingles and songs. Heres some examples, most of them are for humor too, but you know what I mean by them.

Josh ritter, science song

Stephen hawkings, what we need more of is science (song comes after short cartoon at the beginning)

Hawkings, this song is hilariously science bent

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcRpiZbPWzk Evolution rocks

Hawkings the bigbizang, with metal theme

Goertzl the rapper, now theres a good idea aye?

I like it, especially these two stanzas:

put in your two cents today—
because the change ads up—

youve got a date with your grave—
and you want to be late--

I'm no musician, so I'll leave the composing to someone else.

The guy over at senescence.info is involved in musical projects of some sort. When my work/life balance is a bit healthier, then maybe I'll be able to put a few more ideas into your projects again. Had an idea that I'm aiming to create with my crappy drawing skills when life slows down a bit that you may like.

I really do agree with the music being used to spread the message though. I love song and I tend to listen more to a message given over to me in song. :)
