I received the following e-mail from Dr. Knoll regarding (-)BPAP dosage and thought it might be of interest

In animal experiments BPAP is about 100 times more potent than deprenyl.
Nevertheless, because of the unusually high safety margine of BPAP, the
starting dose with this compound in human trial was nearly the same which
we used decades ago when we started the first trial with deprenyl. If you are
interested in details read my recent monograph (The Brain and Its Self,
Springer 2005).

Perhaps someone here can access the monograph in question and post the relevant sections

One question would be the dosage of deprenyl to be used

The dosage recommended for deprenyl for a anti-aging:

"Both Dr. Joseph Knoll and the Life Extension Foundation (37) recommend a 10-15 mg weekly (i.e. 1.5 - 2 mg/day) oral deprenyl dosage for humans, starting around age 40, possibly even in the 30s. "

So the dsage for (-)BPAP should be the same as Deprenyl - 10-15mg per week

Thanks

No problema! I've been nibbling deprenyl at that approximate dose for about 15 years or so. (-)BPAP is intriguing, but a bit less well known and less readily available, no?

I see that I forgot to give you the price for (-)BPAP.
The price for one bottle is $150.00 + $6.00 shipping
At a dosage of 10 drops/day, it will last 80 days.

(-)BPAP 8000 mcg in 30 ml water = $150.00
10 mcg per drop.
Dosage = 10 drops per day

Best regards,
Peter

80 days would equal 100mcg per day (.1mg) - not the same as the deprenyl dose

I got some a couple of years ago, indirectly from vitaspace. Somehow, I've managed to procrastinate ever using it to date.

Is it anyone here that has tried this substance yet?
I am really curious to know if and how this works.

IIRC, Paul Wakfer tried it for a while and then dropped it for lack of evidence of efficacy.

I bought the book The Brain and Its Self. The dosage of BPAP is ridiculously low. It's 0.0001-0.0005mg per kg in rats. The HED is .0001-.0005 *.08 = 0.000008mg/kg--.00004/kg in humans. That's based on the graphs for optimal release of dopamine in the substantia nigrum and tuberculum olfactorium, and noradrenaline in the locus coeruleus. The striatum had no increase in dopamine from baseline, aside from the rat dose .0025mg and .05mg/kg. I've read in other forums here that the humans dose is .1mg, period. So, 1 g would yield 10,000 pills.
