I wouldn't say useless. Its "uselessness" is the same as any other technology, be it cell phones, computers, or the internet itself. It really boils down to how people use it. Some people waste thousands of hours in front of gaming consoles. Others chit-chat on their cell phones all day long about nothing. Some people will use the Surface for entertainment or useless things, other will be creative, inventive and/or connect to the world with it. I think it looks cool. I would buy one if I was rich.

Let me qualify what I said...it's about as useful as an XBOX. At least cell phones serve a useful purpose of connecting people. There's nothing that you can do with that table thing that you cannot do with a computer. Even if I was rich, I would not buy one. I would instead invest the $10k or so to make more money or donate part or all of it to MPrize / stem-cell research.

The $10k price tag is quite an obstacle. However, in a few years when the price comes down I might take a look at one.

If I was in the market for a coffee table anyway (would be a few hundred $'s I would think, maybe a thousand or 2 for a really nice one? I really don't know seeing as how I don't buy furniture that much), and this thing, or something similar was basically the same cost (within say 10% or so) I would rather have it than a regular table.

I'm sure they'll make it so it can connect to a computer/television moniter too, and act as like a remote control or keyboard to it. Nobody wants to watch all their medias on a horizontal surface. Or maybe they'll also make it so it can shift vertically if you want. They should. I might get one when the price goes down, maybe.

I've always loved MSFT they are more innovative than apple made much more contribution to people yet made less than apple who sell overpriced stuff and the reason they are so rich is because basically donate free money to them with how cheap it is to buy stock compared to MSFT who otherwise would be much richer and the first trillion and 2 trillion and 3 trillion if it  had the same stock price. Everyone ignore apple's faults but quick to point out MSFT and even make up stuff along the way.
