Recently I have decided to try Hydergine for its alleged nootropic properties. Before trying it, I believed it can be a great nootropic for me as it is supposed to be related to ergoline family like LSD which in very low doses proved to be a perfect nootropic for me. But I wanted a legal drug and a drug that I could use with similar nootropic effects daily (even low dose LSD I cannot use daily because of the quick tolerance).

So I ordered and tried, but it's not good. Unfortunately it appeared that even very low doses of Hydergine (something like 1mg (1/4 of my 4.5mg tablet)) gave me a strange unpleasant feeling in my head and upper chest - it's like an increased pressure in my head and upper chest. I felt if I would take more of it (1/2 or 1 tablet) I would get a terrible headache, too.

What can be the cause of it? (LSD never gave me this kind of bodily side-effects)

As far as I know my blood pressure is normal although I check it very sporadically.

Does anyone here know if Hydergine carries the same withdrawal risks as other dopamine agonists (e.g. DAWS)?

I can only give anecdotal evidence. I have been cycling it 2 months on / 1 month off for the past 2 years. I don't notice much change on the off month except for slightly slower recall and poor short term memory retention. Very gradual decline. I notice a big difference when I start taking it after my month off as my head feels clearer and thoughts come much easier. It's the only nootropic I take that makes me feel "right" without any side effects. It also potentiates many of the other things in my stack (Piracetam, Noopept) so I need less of them to be effective. I cut a standard 4.5 mg pill into 5-6 pieces so approximately .8 mg/day.

Thank you for the report, deadkenny.

My doctor prescribed a dopamine agonist (Requip), though I'd prefer not to take it due to the risks involved with discontinuation. I've read that Hydergine is a partial-DA agonist, and so have been wondering whether it might be a more benign option as a result. The dose you're on sounds pretty low though, so maybe that also mitigates any withdrawal?

People still take it? I was very surprised when I came here that racetams and hydergine were still so prevalent. They were big fads in the 70's and 80's, but like oil pulling they run out of steam and are quickly forgotten. They provide so little benefit you are better off exercising and saving your money. Of course now some young guy will get all angry that this has all been done before, proved fruitless and been abandoned.

Does anyone know where to buy "Hydergine". It appears that it has been discontinued on most of the online resources, including previously mentioned "international anti-aging system (IAS)" and "QHI.co.uk" since May 2014.

It is by far the best nootropics I have ever taken.

The ergoloid mesylates I got from Taiwan and Japan and compounding pharmacies in US are completely different from "Hydergina" sold by IAS previously. (Although Hydergina is the brandname and Ergoloid Mesylates is the generic name of the same thing). On the contrary, those ergoloid mesylates make my brain extremely foggy and difficulty to think, more like a stupid supplment. Does anyone know why is this?

And where do peple nowadays get "Hydergine" from? IAS is now supplying a componding "Hydergin-pro". Did anyone try this? Does this work similar to previous "Hydergina" sold by IAS?

Thanks,
