Long Live Freedom of Speech

He's managed to burn out both the brakes.
I have no understanding of how he could even think of riding it without any brakes ...

Oh, he's a natural.
Never dropped it, no accidents.
He does an awesome job of using the gears to slow down.
He may be a better rider than I will ever be.

I was stupid, young, having fun and going to get a helmet the next day.

LOL, nice save. ;)

I don't ride without it.

That what we wanna hear.

Mine wasn't so bad, I spose.
My right handlebar locked on the dividing rail, and threw me over the front, and I woke up the next day, in a hospital.
Just a cracked skull and an epileptic fit. Could have been worse.
I was riding again less than a month later.

Get right back on the horse. :~

I have friends like that, out ride me any day of the week. I have one friend who can take his bike at 60 miles an hour and pull the front end up into a wheelie.

Hey, you didn’t let me know what you thought of the solo seat cowl, and I didn’t finish giving you the pro’s and cons.

Well, before I give you the pros and cons, I noticed that the passenger accommodations look a bit cramped with a thin, tapered seat that’s looks difficult to hang onto because there’s no grab rail, with fairly high and aft-mounted foot pegs that can cause the passengers feet to hit the yours. Now, having no grab rail has it’s pros and cons too, so it’s not all downside there.

Generally speaking I do think that your bike is one of those bikes that would look good with a solo seat cowl, but there is one deal breaker in my mind that has always made the solo seat cowl something I wouldn’t put on a bike I owned. You can’t take on a passenger, and no matter how good it might improve the bikes looks, nothing will improve the bikes look better than…

I don’t know about you, but the whole babe factor was a big factor in motivating me to purchase my 3rd and current bike.

Long Live Freedom of Speech

I had just left a 5 year relationship in January, it was a cold hard winter. That spring my friend who picked up a new Ninja “Green Machine” was picking up something else. Every time I would see him he was with a different girl. Now Ernie and I share something in common, we aren’t exactly all that good looking, so I had to know how he kept picking up all these hotties. He told me it was the bike, that women were just coming up to him and asking him for rides. That’s all the sales pitch I needed to get me looking for my next Bike.

Now Rwac, did that factor influence your decision to buy a bike? If it did I have a bonus tip for you, always carry your helmet with you, never leave it strapped to the bike because it is an advertisement that you have a bike. I have walked into poolrooms and bars to visit friends and have had women ask for rides because they saw my helmet. I’ve stopped at Shaws with my backpack to buy food and kept my helmet with me, it just doesn’t seem to matter where you go, it pays to advertise.

I must admit the thought had crossed my mind.
Only, I'm not entirely sure about the babe in that particular pic.

And I do admit to knowing how to use brakes to the fullest extent.
Brings people closer. :~

I must admit I've had cute strangers strike up conversations because of my bike.
These were people who ignored me before they saw my bike. hmmm.

No one has asked me for a ride yet, sadly.

Oh, no. I bought the bike because I love bikes, and I fell in love with it.

However, I admit to not being averse to the perks that come with having a bike. ;)

Advertising! That's a great way to put it.
I will have to start testing that theory right away.

Yes, I did need quite a lot of convincing, but you finally convinced me that a solo seat cowl is not quite the best accessory on a bike.

Or you might have had me at the second pic or so. :~

Wow, we are a few months away from riding season. It's been in the 20's for the past month, the ice on the lake is about 2 feet thick. Plenty of snow for snowmobiling though, we had a foot of snow fall last Wednesday.

I need you to do a test for me next time your on the highway. I’m trying to find out why your bike only does 135, that just doesn’t sound right. Your bike is tuned for low-end and midrange power but it should deliver from nearly off-idle all the way up to its 11,000 rpm redline. Don’t get me wrong, that’s fast enough for some "your-license-and-registration-please" fun, but it just doesn’t sound right to me.
The next time you are on the highway with a nice straight road in front of you, bring your bike up to 5,500 on your tach and look at the speed. If the bike does 135 top speed you should be doing about 70mph with your tach at 5,500 in top gear.

Here is a question for you Rwac, have you ever seen a ride that you really wanted bad for a long time but never got a chance to own it? If yes, what year make and model was it, and what color did you want it in? I remember this one that I always wanted but did not get a chance to own. I really really wanted it bad too.

Here's a bunch of pics of the wrx over the years

2000 - flat headlights, old style.
2003 - bug-eyed
2006-2007 - not too bad
2008-2009 yuck.

Here's the 2000, this is what my car looks like too, pretty much.

Dang, I just overwrote my original post.

I've always had a fondness for AWD cars, and the best AWD is Subaru.

The car I'd like to have is a 2005 WRX wagon.
(Well, I'd love to have a Porsche, but not anytime soon.)

The thing is, GM used to own 10% of Subaru, and they sold that share to Mitsubishi.
I think the car styling has gone downhill since.

The WRX is basically a driver's car, that's what I like about it.

Somehow, I kept putting off buying one, and more recently my bike is faster and cooler than most cars,
so I may not get around to buying one.

Yeah, when you feel the need for speed, the bike is the way to go.

I've gotta crash into bed. I'll post my pics tomorrow.

Yeah, here it is from Marx, The Big Wheel. A lot of my friends were getting one of these while I got stuck with a traditional tricycle. I was jealous.

Lightweight because it was made of plastic. with an oversized front wheel, that rides very low to the ground. This ride was Introduced by Louis Marx and Company in 1969, and the Big Wheel was a very popular ride in the 1970s. It was a low cost alternative to the tricycle and parents liked it because it was much safer. Just check out the wide no tip wheelbase, and it was much faster too because of the big wheel. Nice fatty tires in the rear. Yeah, speed and safety was an issue back then also, but it no one wore helmets.

When I was 6 years old I saw and decided that my dream car was a 1972 Dodge Charger. So I got the chance to own my dream car when I found one right after I got out of high school. There are too many rides that I know about and like, you can't own them all. At one time in my early 20's I had 11 or 12 and vehicles and decided that it was too hard to keep up with that many so ever since then I stopped trying to collect. One Dream car, one truck, one winter bomb so the nice vehicles don't eat salt and one toy. I had boats three wheelers ect. To many toys so I decide to narrow that to one. Now I'm pretty much counting on my toy for main transportation. Didn't work out so well for winter. :)

I have pictures of all or most of the vehicles I owned, I hope to download those on my computer before winter ends. When I get to that I'm going to download my landscaping pics first. Sentinel and I were exchanging pics but I ran out of the pics I had already loaded years ago. At the pace I'm going though, I don't see getting that done anytime soon.

I tried driving at 70 in 6th gear. It seems like it's doing about 5000 rpm at 70 mph.
So perhaps, the info about max speed is wrong.

Yes, was was suspicious of that number. I thought the bike should be capable of higher speeds, like 155-160.

There is a claim that your Ninja can get nearly 60 miles from a gallon of super unleaded if you can control your right wrist. I don't think you should ever count on driving 240 miles on a tank of gas. Your bike holds 4.1 gallons of gas, it should get in the range of 42.5 mpg to 47.5mpg, or right around 44mpg. At that average, you should be able to squeeze about 180 miles out of the bike before you have to start walking. Does that seem about right?

The most I ever got out of one tank was 182.5, but my tank holds a little more at 4.8 gallons.
